Dreading having to stuff your Christmas tree in the car to dispose of it after Christmas? Not looking forward to finding pine needles in your car for weeks to come?
On Sunday the 5th January 2020 between 0900 and 1600 the Scouts will be out collecting your Christmas trees!
Why not have your tree collected to be shredded and used environmentally or as biomass for energy whilst supporting your local community? Sponsored by Strom Tree Care, the Scouts will be out collecting trees in the area of Thorner and Scarcroft on Sunday 5th January 2020. Your donations will support further opportunities for local young people to pick up vital skills for life through Scouting.
How much does it cost?
We ask for a minimum donation of £5 per tree, but you are welcome to donate more than this if you would like to. This can be paid in cash on collection.
When will you be collecting trees?
We will be collecting trees on the 5th January 2020 between 0900 and 1600. You can specify a preferred collection time when booking your collection.
What is my donation going towards?
Scouting provides opportunities for young people to gain vital skills for life through fun, challenging and adventurous activities. We will be using your donations to fund further equipment to allow us to provide even more opportunities for local young people at as affordable a cost as possible.
I won't be in between 0900 and 1600 on the 5th January, can you still collect my tree?
Our preference is for cash on collection on the 5th January. However if you are not going to be in and you can make arrangements to get the cash donation to us before the day of collection please e-mail us on This email address is being protected from spambots. What will you be doing with the trees?
The trees will be chipped by our sponsor, Strom Tree Care. The chippings will either be used locally for environmental projects or sent to be burned as biomass to produce energy.
Who is your sponsor?
We are delighted that this event is kindly sponsored by Strom Tree Care. Strom Tree Care is run by Scott McMillan (also a long-term volunteer with the Scout Group and a very community minded person!). Scott is an experienced tree surgeon offering all aspects of tree and hedge work as well as other garden work, and we are really pleased that Scott has offered to sponsor us by providing the chipping service for the trees and arranging use of the chips produced. Strom Tree Care can be found on Facebook here.
